RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To study the regularity of central response to thermal needle stimulation of "Zusanli" (ST36) at different temperature, and to analyze the temperature difference of central responses. METHODS: Six male C57BL/6j adult mice were used in the present study. For observing activities of neurons in the hindlimb region of left primary somatosensory cortex (S1HL, A/P=0.46 mm, M/L=1.32 mm, D/V=-0.14 mm) by using a fast high-resolution miniature two-photon microscopy (FHIRM-TPM), the mice were anesthetized with 3% isoflurane (inhalation), with its head fixed in a stereotaxic apparatus, then, adeno-associated virus (AAV-hSyn-GCaMP6f-WPRE-hGHpA, for showing intracellular calcium transients in neurons transfected) was injected into the left S1HL region using a micro-syringe after scalp surgical operation. The mice's right ST36 were stimulated using internal thermal needles with the temperature being 43 ℃, or 45 ℃, or 47 ℃, separately. Image J software and MATLAB 2020b software were used to process the image data of neuronal calcium activity (Ca2+ signaling) in the left S1HL region, including the instant maximum calcium peak value (ΔF/F) in 2 s, instant calcium spike frequency in 2 s, short-term calcium peak value (ΔF/F) in 3.5 min, short-term calcium spike frequency in 3.5 min, calcium peak duration in 3.5 min, maximum calcium peak value (ΔF/F) at the 1st , 2nd and 3rd min, and calcium spike frequency at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd min after thermal needle stimulation. RESULTS: In comparison with the normal temperature needle stimulation, the instant intracellular maximum calcium peak value, instant calcium spike frequency, short-term maximum calcium peak value, short-term calcium spike frequency, and calcium peak duration of S1HL neurons in response to 43 ℃, 45 ℃ and 47 ℃ internal thermal needle stimulation of ST36 were significantly increased (P<0.001, P<0.01). Comparison among the 43 ℃, 45 ℃ and 47 ℃ thermal needle stimulation showed that the 45 ℃ thermal needle stimulation was obviously superior to 43 ℃ and 47 ℃ thermal needle stimulation in increasing instant calcium spike frequency, short-term calcium spike frequency and calcium peak duration of S1HL neurons (P<0.001, P<0.01). The 47 ℃ thermal needle stimulation was stronger than 43 ℃ and 45 ℃ thermal needle stimulation in increasing the instant maximum calcium peak value (P<0.001). The maximum calcium peak value was apparently higher (P<0.001) at the 2nd min than that at the 1st and 3rd min after 43 ℃, 45 ℃ and 47 ℃ thermal needle stimulation. No significant differences were found in the short-term maximum calcium peak value among the 3 thermal needle stimulation and in the calcium spike frequency among the 3 time points after 43 ℃, 45 ℃ and 47 ℃ thermal needle stimulation. CONCLUSIONS: S1HL neurons respond to all 43 ℃, 45 ℃ and 47 ℃ thermal needle stimulation of ST36 in mice, while more actively to 45 ℃ thermal needle stimulation.

RESUMO

Nanoalbumin-paclitaxel (nab-paclitaxel) is a standard chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer but has shown limited efficacy. However, the mechanism through which circulating nab-paclitaxel passes through the tumour vascular endothelium has not been determined. In our study, a new nonradioactive and highly sensitive method for analysing nab-paclitaxel transcytosis was established. Based on these methods, we found that hypoxia significantly enhanced the autophagic degradation of CAV1 and therefore attenuated caveolae-mediated nab-paclitaxel transcytosis across endothelial cells (ECs). In a proof-of-concept experiment, higher levels of CAV1, accompanied by lower levels of LC3B, were observed in the vascular endothelium of pancreatic cancer tissues collected from patients who showed a good response to nab-paclitaxel compared with those from patients who showed a poor response to nab-paclitaxel. Furthermore, both in vivo and in vitro studies confirmed that suppressing the autophagic degradation of CAV1 via EC-specific ATG5 knockdown or hydroxychloroquine sulfate (HCQ) treatment significantly enhanced nab-paclitaxel translocation across the endothelial barrier into pancreatic cancer cells and amplified the inhibitory effect of nab-paclitaxel on pancreatic tumour growth. The stimulation of CAV1 expression by EC-specific overexpression of exogenous CAV1 or administration of gemcitabine hydrochloride (GE) had the same effect. These results demonstrated that suppressing CAV1 autophagic degradation is a novel translatable strategy for enhancing nab-paclitaxel chemotherapeutic activity in the treatment of pancreatic cancer.

RESUMO

Plant autotoxicity is considered to be one of the important causes of continuous cropping obstacles in modern agriculture, which accumulates a lot of allelochemicals and xenobiotics and is difficult to solve effectively. To overcome tobacco continuous obstacles, a strain Pigmentiphaga kullae CHJ604 isolated from the environment can effectively degrade these compounds in this study. CHJ604 strain can degrade 11 types of autotoxicity allelochemicals and xenobiotics (1646.22 µg/kg) accumulated in the soil of ten-years continuous cropping of tobacco. The 11 allelochemicals and xenobiotics significantly reduced Germination Percentage (GP), Germination Index (GI), and Mean Germination Time (MGT) of tobacco seeds, and inhibited the development of leaves, stems, and roots. These negative disturbances can be eliminated by CHJ604 strain. The degradation pathways of 11 allelochemicals and xenobiotics were obtained by whole genome sequence and annotation of CHJ604 strain. The heterologous expression of a terephthalate 1,2-dioxygenase can catalyze 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoic acid, 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde, and 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-benzaldehyde, respectively. The phthalate 4,5-dioxygenase can catalyze phthalic acid, diisobutyl phthalate, and dibutyl phthalate. These two enzymes are conducive to the simultaneous degradation of multiple allelochemicals and xenobiotics by strain CHJ604. This study provides new insights into the biodegradation of autotoxicity allelochemicals and xenobiotics as it is the first to describe a degrading bacterium of 11 types of allelochemicals and xenobiotics and their great potential in improving tobacco continuous obstacles.

RESUMO

AIMS: We sought to explore the latent classifications of psychosocial adaptation in young and middle-aged patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and analyse the characteristics of different profiles of AMI patients. METHODS AND RESULTS: A cross-sectional study was performed in 438 Chinese young and middle-aged patients with AMI. The investigation time was 1 month after discharge. Three different self-report instruments were distributed to the participants, including the Psychosocial Adjustment to Illness Scale, the Perceived Stress Scale, and the Social Support Rating Scale. The seven dimensions of the Psychosocial Adjustment to Illness Scale were then used to perform a latent profile analysis. All participants signed informed consent forms in accordance with the ethical principles of the Declaration of Helsinki. Finally, a total of 411 young and middle-aged AMI patients were enrolled. Three distinct profiles were identified, including the 'well-adapted group' (44.8%), 'highlight in psychological burdens group' (25.5%), and 'poorly adapted group' (29.7%). The influencing factors included stress perception, social support, occupational type, and marital status (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The psychosocial adaptation of young and middle-aged AMI patients can be divided into three profiles. Clinical nurses can carry out individualized psychological interventions according to the characteristics of patients in different potential profiles to improve the psychosocial adaptation of patients and the prognosis of their disease.

RESUMO

Climate change altered the quantities of aboveground plant litter and root inputs, but the effects on soil CH4 uptake rates and underlying mechanisms remain unclear. To investigate these factors, a three-year detritus input and removal treatment (DIRT) study including six treatments (namely, CK, control; NL, litter removal; DL, double litter; NR, root exclusion; NRNL, root exclusion plus litter removal; and NRDL, root exclusion plus double litter) was conducted in broadleaf and coniferous forest subalpine forest ecosystems. The results showed that both the subalpine forest soils acted as sink for atmospheric CH4 across all treatments, while the broadleaf forest had consistently higher CH4 uptake rates than the coniferous forest. Based on the annual mean values, root exclusion (NR, NRNL and NRDL) significantly decreased soil CH4 uptake rates by 35.9 %, 31.0 % and 43.4 % in the broadleaf forest and 36.7 %, 31.9 % and 40.6 % in the coniferous forest compared with CK treatments, respectively. Meanwhile, the mean soil CH4 uptake rates were significantly reduced by 23.6 % and 17.3 % in the broadleaf forest and the coniferous forest under the DL treatments, respectively; nevertheless, the NL treatment significantly increased soil CH4 uptake rates by 19.68 % and 14.4 %, respectively. The results clearly demonstrated that root exclusion exerted a greater influence on soil CH4 uptake rates than plant litter manipulations. Correlation and redundancy analysis (RDA) revealed that the separation of root exclusion treatments from aboveground plant litter manipulations was based on higher soil water content, NH4+-N and NO3--N concentrations, and lower DOC (dissolved organic carbon) concentrations and methanotroph pmoA gene abundance. The results suggest that future alterations in aboveground plant litter and root input, particularly a reduction in root input, can exert a stronger influence on regulating soil CH4 uptake than aboveground litter manipulations in subalpine forests with cold and humid climatic conditions in response to future climate scenarios.

RESUMO

MOF (metal organic framework) materials have been used as functional materials in a number of fields due to their diverse spatial tunability, which produces rich porous structures with stable and continuous pores and a high specific surface area. A triboelectric nanogenerator can convert trace mechanical energy into electrical energy, and the application of MOF materials to triboelectric nanogenerators has been intensively studied. In this work, we report on two MOFs with similar spatial structures, and the modulation of the end microstructures was achieved using the difference in F content. The output performance of friction power generation increases with the increase in F content, and the obtained polyacidic ligand materials can be used to construct self-powered corrosion protection systems, which can effectively protect metallic materials from corrosion.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Studies evaluating the association between monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) -2518 A > G (rs1024611) polymorphism and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and diabetic nephropathy (DN) are contradictory. The present study aims to provide a comprehensive assessment and more reliable estimation of the relationship between the MCP-1 rs1024611 polymorphism and T2DM and DN risk. METHODS: Eligible articles were retrieved from the PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, Cochrane, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases. The effect summary odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were obtained to calculate the summary effect size. Heterogeneity was analyzed by subgroup analysis and meta-regression. Publication bias was tested using funnel plots and Egger's test. RESULTS: In total, sixteen studies were included. Thirteen studies involving 2,363 patients with T2DM and 4,650 healthy controls found no significant association between the MCP-1 rs1024611 polymorphism and T2DM in the overall population. Ethnicity stratification found an association between the GG + GA genotype and decreased T2DM risk in Caucasians (OR = 0.79, 95% CI: 0.66-0.93, P = 0.006; PQ = 0.372). No significant risks were found in the Asian population for any genetic models. Seven studies found an association between the GG + GA genotype and DN risk in the Asian population (OR = 1.37, 95% CI: 1.11-1.71, P = 0.004, PQ = 0.222). No significant risks were found in the Caucasian population with any genetic models. There were no statistically significant differences in genotype distribution between patients with T2DM and DN in Asians or Caucasians. Meta-regression revealed that genotyping method was a major driver of heterogeneity in five genetic models (GG + GA vs. AA: P = 0.032; GG vs. GA + AA: P = 0.028; GG vs. AA: P = 0.035; GG vs. GA: P = 0.041; G vs. A: P = 0.041). CONCLUSION: The MCP-1 rs1024611 polymorphism is associated with susceptibility to T2DM in Caucasians and DN in Asians. Larger, well-designed cohort studies are needed in the future to verify this association.

RESUMO

Stresses caused by deficiency/excess of mineral nutrients or of pollution of toxic metals have already become a primary factor in limiting crop production worldwide. Genes involved in minerals and toxic metals accumulation/tolerance could be potential candidates for improving crop plants with enhanced nutritional efficiency and environmental adaptability. In this study, we first generated a high-quality yeast expression cDNA library of Brassica napus (Westar), and 46 genes mediating excess micronutrients and toxic metals detoxification were screened using the yeast genetic complementation system, including 11, 5, 6, 14, 6, and 5 genes involved in cadmium (Cd), zinc (Zn), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), boron (B), and copper (Cu) tolerance, respectively. Characterization of genes mediating excess ions stress resistance in this study is beneficial for us to further understand ions homeostasis in B. napus.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Axillary lymph nodes (LN) are the primary and dominant metastatic sites in breast cancer. However, the interaction between tumor cells and immune cells within metastatic LNs (mLN) remains poorly understood. In our study, we explored the effect of CD24hiCD27+ regulatory B cells (Breg) within mLNs on orchestrating drug resistance of breast cancer cells. EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN: We collected mLN samples from patients with breast cancer who had received standard neoadjuvant therapy (NAT) and analyzed the spatial features of CD24hiCD27+ Bregs through multicolor immunofluorescence staining. The effect of CD24hiCD27+ Bregs on drug resistance of breast cancer cells was evaluated via in vitro experiments. A mouse model with mLNs was used to evaluate the strategies with blocking the interactions between Bregs and breast cancer for improving tumor regression within mLNs. RESULTS: In patients with breast cancer who had received NAT, there is a close spatial correlation between activated CD24hiCD27+ Bregs and residual tumor cells within mLNs. Mechanistically, CD24hiCD27+ Bregs greatly enhance the acquisition of multidrug resistance and stem-like features of breast cancer cells by secreting IL6 and TNFα. More importantly, breast cancer cells further promote the activation of CD24hiCD27+ Bregs via CD40L-dependent and PD-L1-dependent proximal signals, forming a positive feedback pattern. PD-L1 blockade significantly attenuates the drug resistance of breast cancer cells induced by CD24hiCD27+ Bregs, and addition of anti-PD-L1 antibody to chemotherapy improves tumor cell remission in mLNs. CONCLUSIONS: Our study reveals the pivotal role of CD24hiCD27+ Bregs in promoting drug resistance by interacting with breast cancer cells in mLNs, providing novel evidence for an improved strategy of chemoimmunotherapy combination for patients with breast cancer with mLNs.

RESUMO

We propose a method for coupling a tapered optical fiber to an inverted tapered SiN waveguide by fabricating a microfiber using 3D nanoprinting lithography. The microfiber consists of three parts: a tapered cladding cap, an S-bend, and a straight part, all composed of high-refractive-index material. Light is adiabatically coupled from the tapered fiber to the printed microfiber through the cladding cap. The light is then transmitted through the S-bend and the straight part with low loss and is finally coupled to the waveguide through the evanescent field. In the simulation, our design can achieve a high coupling efficiency (TE mode) of ∼97% at a wavelength of 1542 nm with a wide bandwidth of ∼768n m at the 1-dB cutoff criterion.

RESUMO

During the pandemic, many hotels convert into isolation centres for the purpose of quarantine. However, the memorable experience in the context of quarantine hotel (quarantel) remains unexplored. Thus, the purpose of this research was to explore the memorable quarantel experiences of Chinese student returnees during the COVID-19 outbreak. The research was qualitative in nature, involving 26 in-depth interviews conducted through snowballing. The data was then analysed using thematic analysis. The findings revealed six themes - (1) staff, (2) room, (3) hygiene and disinfection, (4) food, (5) healthcare and (6) location - with 20 underlying attributes pertaining their experiences. Some themes (e.g. hygiene and disinfection and healthcare) and attributes (e.g. ventilation and Chinese food therapy) were found to be unique experiences with significant functions that newly added in the context of quarantine hotels. Besides, differences existed between operational guidelines of quarantine hotels and actual guests' quarantine experience. The research allows hotel operators to better understand guests' concerns during the quarantine period and offers managerial implications to improve hotels' performance during and after the pandemic.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: AMI incidence in young and middle-aged patients is increasing year by year, and such patients are prone to negative emotions after illness, which affects health outcomes. However, post-traumatic growth can bring about positive changes in the patient, which is beneficial to their recovery. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to understand the different types of post-traumatic growth characteristics and their related factors in young and middle-aged patients with acute myocardial infarction to help find precise intervention measures. METHODS: This was a cross-sectional study. Self-reported questionnaires were used to assess general demographic characteristics, post-traumatic growth, and rumination. The mean of the five dimensions of the Post-traumatic Growth Scale was used to perform a Latent profile analysis. RESULTS: A total of 312 participants, including 285 male and 27 female patients, with the mean age was 51.95±5.75. Latent profile analysis results showed that three-profile model was the most suitable. Three different profiles were named: the "Malgrowth group" (45.51%), the "Good growth group" (18.91%), and the "Excellent growth group" (35.58%). The related factors included rumination, age, monthly income, whether to return to work, marital status, residential address, classification of disease, and whether to perform PCI treatment (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: According to our results, the post-traumatic growth of young and middle-aged AMI patients can be divided into three profiles, and targeted intervention can be carried out for patients according to the determined patient profiles.

RESUMO

Quantum key distribution (QKD) aims to generate secure private keys shared by two remote parties. With its security being protected by principles of quantum mechanics, some technology challenges remain towards practical application of QKD. The major one is the distance limit, which is caused by the fact that a quantum signal cannot be amplified while the channel loss is exponential with the distance for photon transmission in optical fiber. Here using the 3-intensity sending-or-not-sending protocol with the actively-odd-parity-pairing method, we demonstrate a fiber-based twin-field QKD over 1002 km. In our experiment, we developed a dual-band phase estimation and ultra-low noise superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors to suppress the system noise to around 0.02 Hz. The secure key rate is 9.53×10^{-12} per pulse through 1002 km fiber in the asymptotic regime, and 8.75×10^{-12} per pulse at 952 km considering the finite size effect. Our work constitutes a critical step towards the future large-scale quantum network.

RESUMO

An imbalance of l-tryptophan (l-Trp), a basic component of a healthy diet, is harmful to human health. Traditional methods for detecting l-Trp have many limitations. To correct a deficiency or excess of l-Trp in human diets, it is necessary to develop a novel method that is rapid, low-cost, and high-sensitivity. Herein, a molecularly imprinted polysaccharide electrochemical sensor termed MIP/CS/MWCNTs/GCE (molecularly imprinted polymer/chitosan/multiwalled carbon nanotubes/glassy carbon electrode) targeting l-Trp was first constructed on a glassy carbon electrode, which was modified with multiwalled carbon nanotubes and chitosan using bifunctional monomers. The MIP/CS/MWCNTs/GCE obtained a wide linear range (1-300 µM) for detecting l-Trp and accurately detected the proportion of l-Trp in mixtures of Trp enantiomers. In milk samples, the spiked recoveries of l-Trp were 86.50 to 99.65%. The MIP/CS/MWCNTs/GCE electrochemical sensor possessed good recognition and detection performance for l-Trp and has promising potential for practical application.

RESUMO

AIMS: To describe the experiences and perceptions of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients with a prolonged decision-making phase of treatment-seeking. BACKGROUND: Previous attempts to reduce the treatment-seeking time of AMI have been less than optimal. Due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the situation of prehospital delay is possibly worse. Decisions to seek treatment are influenced by multiple factors and need individualised interventions. Understanding patients' external and internal experiences and psychological perceptions is essential. DESIGN: Meta-synthesis. DATA SOURCES: We searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Scopus and four Chinese databases from inception to April 2022. METHODS: We screened the retrieved articles with predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria, and reviewed articles using Thomas and Harden's (BMC Medical Research Methodology, 2008 8, 45) qualitative thematic synthesis approach. The Joanna Briggs Institute critical appraisal tool for qualitative research was used to assess the quality of studies. RESULTS: Twenty-one studies were included, identifying four themes and nine sub-themes. The four primary themes were difficulty recognising and attributing symptoms, attempt to act, unwillingness to change and self-sacrifice. CONCLUSION: Deciding to seek treatment is a complex social and psychological process, which needs comprehensive interventions considering personal and sociocultural factors and factors related to the COVID-19 pandemic. IMPLICATIONS FOR THE PROFESSION AND/OR PATIENT CARE: Details of interventions for decisions to seek treatment in AMI patients need to be further designed and evaluated. IMPACT: Results would help healthcare professionals to implement individualised management of decision-making of treatment-seeking among AMI patients, and improve medical records of patients' prehospital experiences. REPORTING METHOD: The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews 2020 checklist was used to report the findings. PATIENT OR PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION: Two AMI patients contributed to the data synthesis by giving simple feedback about the final themes.

RESUMO

The performance of buckwheat protein (BK) and chia seed protein (CP) as drying carriers for the microencapsulation of polyphenols extracted from blackcurrant pomace and cocoa powder was investigated. Four experimental groups were evaluated (BK-BC: blackcurrant pomace extract with buckwheat protein; CP-BC: blackcurrant pomace extract with chia:pea protein blend; BK-CC: cocoa extract with buckwheat protein; and CP-CC: cocoa extract with chia:pea protein blend) to determine physicochemical attributes, phytochemical content, antioxidant activity, and polyphenol in vitro bioaccessibility. Nonconventional, underexploited protein sources such as chia/pea protein blend and buckwheat protein efficiently produced functional microparticles with attractive color and texture, low hygroscopicity (<20% increase in moisture content when exposed to 86% relative humidity for 1 week), solubility above 50% at pH 7 and 10, and uniform particle size (29 < D4,3  < 56 µm). Besides this, the protein-polyphenol microparticles concentrated and protected health-relevant polyphenol content. Anthocyanins were detected in blackcurrant treatments (around 20 mg cyanidin-3-O-glucoside equivalents/g), while proanthocyanidins (PAC) were the most prevalent polyphenols in cocoa treatments (>100 mg PAC B2/g). Monomers were the main class of PAC in both BK-CC and CP-CC treatments. All protein-polyphenol treatments reduced both reactive oxygen species and nitric oxide production in lipopolysaccharide-activated cells (p < 0.05). The polyphenol recovery index was high (>70%) for both oral and gastric phases, and BK-derived groups had better bioaccessibility index compared to BC or CC alone (noncomplexed). This research provided a framework for delivery of high-value ingredients to attend to an emerging market centered on protein-rich, clean label plant-based food products. PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Practical Application: The protein-polyphenol complexation is a robust method to produce phytochemical-rich food ingredients for the food industry with enhanced physicochemical, sensory, and bioaccessibility performance. In this study, we investigated practical aspects regarding the production and quality of protein-polyphenol particles, such as the spray-drying efficiency, phytochemical content, physicochemical attributes, antioxidant activity, and polyphenol bioaccessibility. This study unveils the potential of underexplored buckwheat and chia seeds (alone or combined with pea protein) as encapsulation carriers for fruit polyphenols to diversify the protein options available for products directed to the wellness market.

RESUMO

The effective and convenient detection of single photons via advanced detectors with a large active area is becoming significant for quantum and classical applications. This work demonstrates the fabrication of a superconducting microstrip single-photon detector (SMSPD) with a millimeter-scale active area via the use of ultraviolet (UV) photolithography. The performances of NbN SMSPDs with different active areas and strip widths are characterized. SMSPDs fabricated by UV photolithography and electron beam lithography with small active areas are also compared from the aspects of the switching current density and line edge roughness. Furthermore, an SMSPD with an active area of 1 mm × 1 mm is obtained via UV photolithography, and during operation at 0.85 K, it exhibits near-saturated internal detection efficiency at wavelengths up to 800 nm. At a wavelength of 1550 nm, the detector exhibits a system detection efficiency of ∼5% (7%) and a timing jitter of 102 (144) ps, when illuminated with a light spot of ∼18 (600) µm in diameter, respectively.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Interprofessional education (IPE) is crucial for effective clinical practice but remains challenging to be implemented. The IPE activity using virtual simulation (VS) may potentially solve the time and space challenges of in-person interprofessional simulations. Using shared VS resources may increase the popularity of virtual teaching in conditions of limited resources. OBJECTIVES: Using shared resources, this study aimed to design and implement a VS-based IPE activity for undergraduate healthcare students, exploring the effects. DESIGN: A quasi-experimental design was used, with assessments conducted before and after the activity. SETTINGS: One university and its affiliated hospitals in south China. PARTICIPANTS: Forty-two undergraduate students majoring in nursing, clinical medicine, and rehabilitation therapy participated in this study. METHODS: A test composed of ten questions was used to evaluate knowledge of rehabilitation. The Chinese version of Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory (CTDI-CV) and the Chinese version of Assessment of Interprofessional Team Collaboration in Student Learning Scale (AITCS-II (Student)-CV) were used to evaluate critical thinking and interprofessional collaboration. Participants' opinions about the activity were assessed, considering satisfaction, perceived effectiveness, the ease of shared VS platform use, and suggestions about the activity. RESULTS: Significant improvements were shown in pre- and post-test total scores on knowledge of rehabilitation, mean scores for overall critical thinking disposition, and mean item scores on overall interprofessional team collaboration. CONCLUSIONS: The study provides a reference for designing and implementing VS-based IPE but the effects of this innovative pedagogy on students' rehabilitation knowledge, critical thinking, and interprofessional collaboration ability still need to be further confirmed. Most of the students gave positive feedback on the activity. Technical issues should be addressed to decrease their impacts on the VS practice experience.

RESUMO

Glacier retreat caused by global warming may result in the variation of soil organic carbon and nutrient cycling. Yet, the dynamic change of soil microbial functional profiles, especially C metabolism-related, with soil development following glacier retreat are still unclear. In the present study, we investigated the soil microbial communities, metagenomic functioning, and metabolomic profiles along the Hailuogou Glacier forefield representing a 120-year chronosequence. The alpha diversity indices of soil bacteria, protozoa and nifH genes showed an upward trend with increased soil ages, and the beta diversity of soil archaea, bacteria, fungi, protozoa, nifH and nirS genes were significantly correlated with soil ages, in which increasing soil C and P while decreased C/N and pH significantly contributed to the differences of soil microbial communities among the analyzed environmental variables. The metagenomic functional genes related to the metabolisms of Glycogen and Cellulosome, Iron Acquisition and Metabolism were significantly decreased with chronosequence, while the utilization of Xylose and Lactate, Potassium Metabolism, Sulfur Metabolism showing an upward trend with soil ages, in which soil C/N ratios and pH were the most influential factors. In addition, soil C and C/N ratios were also significantly correlated to metabolomic compositions, in which the complexity of the metabolite structure increased with soil ages. Our results indicate that glacier retreat may lead to the asynchronous C and N accumulation along the chronosequence, thereby affecting the metagenomic and metabolomic functioning of soil microbial communities related to C metabolisms during soil development following glacier retreat.
